R2A Review - A wrap of Engineering Due Diligence

Welcome to the winter edition of our newsletter. The rush to the end of the financial year saw a flurry of public and in-house courses for Richard and I which are continuing into July.  It was great to see our Criminal Manslaughter and Rail Safety public courses for July, run through Engineering Education Australia, were sold out. The next set of public courses are later in the year (see dates below).

Richard and I also provided a risk and due diligence session as part of the Fremantle Maritime Simulation Centre’s Advanced Marine Pilotage training course.

This month, Richard and I travelled to Wellington NZ to complete a high-level availability study for Transpower’s HVDC Link.  It was a great and very productive week and Wellington turned on the fabulous weather for us – not windy at all!

At the start of June, we wrapped up season 3 of our podcast, Risk! Engineers Talk Governance (see episode links below). Richard and I continue to be pleasantly astonished by the popularity of our podcast and the positive feedback that we are receiving from our listeners.  Listen out for season 4 coming in Spring.

In this edition of the newsletter, we feature two new blogs, both around the theme of criticality which is at the centre of all our due diligence work. That is, making sure all reasonable, practicable precautions are in place for credible critical issues.  The first article, outlines the recent IT system failure that was experienced around the world and the second is related to climate change. We hope you find them interesting reads.

If you have any questions relating to engineering due diligence, please get in touch. Richard and I are always happy to chat. Email admin@r2a.com.au or call us on (+61) 1300 772 333.

 Until next time,

AUSTRALIAN OWNED & MADE WOMEN’S PPE

From the outset, Apto PPE (Women’s & Maternity Safety Workwear) made conscious decisions as a business. As such, we are a licensee with Australia Made, having chosen to conduct all design work, manufacturing and to source materials within Australia.

We are proud to support local businesses who care about quality, fairness and deliver to Australian standards.

All Apto PPE garments are made with high quality materials and are designed and made to last. We are not ‘disposable’ fashion; we are sustainable, long-lasting safety workwear that you can wear for years to come. This means our range perfectly suits organisations providing bank arrangements of PPE gear for their employees.

With our local manufacturing, we work with organisations to supply our designs in different materials - weights and colours - without the need for excessive quantity runs.

Apto PPE is a wholly owned subsidiary of R2A.
